PROVIDING NECESSARY NUTRITION AND LIFE SKILLS IN BOTH

MALAWI AND SRI LANKA

ChildrenBaobab Christian Outreach started in early 2008 in order to improve nutritional standards in Malawi.  Previously work was done in both Kenya and Sri Lanka.

A focus was developed by the board of BCO to ensure each child in the Nkhoma catchment areas would receive proper nutrition in order to greatly reduce the infant mortality rate.

SRI LANKA ASSISTANCE
Assistance was provided in Sri Lanka during 2004 at the time a cease fire agreement was in place between the Tamil Tigers and the Government of Sri Lanka.  By means of providing assistance to Shelter for Life, modest housing units of 200 sq.ft. were built in the Mannar District in North West Sri Lanka.  These houses were built with the financial assistance of the Dutch organization called EO Metterdaad.  After completion of the project the tsunami hit the island in December 2004 after which our president remainded in Sri Lanka to assist with the building of shelters for those that had lost their houses during the tsunami.  The building of houses for tsunami victims continued until late 2007.

HOW EACH OF YOU READING THIS PAGE CAN ASSIST
Boabab Christian Outreach is funded by donations from its supporters in Canada.  If you want to assist in specific areas, you can.  We are currently working to provide proper nutrition for all children under the age of five.  We have a vision to start a fortified maize meal (thick mixture of cream of wheat) manufacturing plant.  This would require and investment income of between $800,000 and $1,000,000.  In addition to provide proper nutrition to the infants of the Nkhoma catchment area, such a plant would also provide work much needed economic input by providing much need work for the local population.  In addition the farming community would be able to increase its growing capacity by growing crops other than the traditional maize (corn).  This will be a “win-win” situation.  For more information please go to our donations page.
